(I’m a vegetarian myself and I always take a B complex supplement every day to be on the safe side.) It’s a good idea for non-meat eating women to make sure they have an adequate intake of vitamin B12, ideally before pregnancy, and it can’t hurt to ask your doctor to run a blood test to check your vitamin B12 levels if you feel you are risk for deficiency.
B12 deficiency symptoms can affect your health in numerous ways and has no obvious symptoms until the B12 deficiency is serious, so it’s wise to consider your B12 levels when you are thinking about a pregnancy.
