Growing Up Veg encompasses life as a vegan family, covering topics from recipes, how to get your kids to eat veggies, navigating social interactions, and kid-friendly projects. My goal with this blog is to demonstrate how easy it is to live this lifestyle, as well as helping to normalize it. I can’t tell you how many friends, family, and acquaintances refer people to the site who are looking for vegan/allergen-free recipes. These people inspire me to continue.

Since I became vegan over a decade ago, things have changed drastically. It is exciting to see vegan becoming more mainstream. One of the biggest hurdles in many peoples’ minds is the amount of time it takes to cook meals. The family-friendly recipes Growing UpVeg features are typically easy to prepare. If you enjoy vegan treats, there are ideas on the site ranging from homemade chocolates to veganizing store-bought mixes. Basically there is something for everyone.

Along with recipes, there are kid-friendly activities such as making edible play dougha homemade dog treat, and decorating vegan Easter eggs. We encourage our children to help out in the kitchen, therefore many recipes are simple, so they are able to assist. If they can do it, you can too! These little kiddos are my inspiration, as I’d like to help create a better world for them. For our family, a vegan lifestyle is paramount to succeeding in that goal.

Lastly, there is information on Growing Up Veg for those seeking guidance through social interactions from handling snack at pre-schoolwhat to serve at a birthday or Halloween party, and family vegan parenting groups. I hope these resources will help others to choose this compassionate lifestyle by creating a supportive and resourceful parenting community.

**Proud mother of two vegan kiddos, Celeste has been vegan for over a decade with a serious cookbook collection addiction. Her current job is taking care of her family, and she is an assistance ECFE (early childhood family education) teacher. Things she enjoys doing most include: spending time with family and friends, photography, reading, spending time outdoors, volunteering, birding, and blogging. She went to school for conservation biology, so she tries to incorporate that into her family’s daily life.
